Klusko vs monday.com: a simpler monday.com alternative for small business

monday.com is a big, flexible work platform. Klusko is tasks and team chat in one app for small businesses. Here’s where each one wins, with prices as of September 2026.

Klusko vs monday.com comes down to how much machinery you want. If you need automations, a timeline view and a long list of integrations, monday.com is the better tool, and we’d say that to your face. If you’re a team of five to thirty who mostly need to see who’s doing what and talk about it in the same place, Klusko is simpler and cheaper, and the chat is built in, so there’s no Slack bill on top. We make Klusko, so read the rest with that in mind. The monday.com prices are as of September 2026, from their pricing page.

Where monday.com is better

It does a lot more. Automations are the big one: “when status changes to Done, tell the account lead” sounds small, but once you have a process that runs forty times a month, it adds up. Klusko has nothing like that.

The timeline on Standard is a proper way to plan work over months, and it connects to other tools and has an API. So if your CRM or your accounts package needs to push jobs into your task list, monday.com can do that and we can’t yet.

Their mobile apps are finished and on both app stores. Ours is an iPhone app that’s still in testing, and there’s no Android app. If half your team works from Android phones, that probably settles it for now.

Where Klusko is better

Chat, mainly. monday.com has an Updates thread on every item, which is fine for “has the client signed this off?” but it isn’t where you’d ask who’s got the van keys. That’s how teams end up paying for Slack as well. As of September 2026, Slack Pro plus monday.com Standard for ten people is $192.50 a month billed yearly, or $227.50 billed monthly. Klusko Team for the same ten is £50 or £60. We wrote more about that pairing in Klusko vs Slack.

In Klusko you can mention a task inside a chat message and it becomes a live link. The conversation points at the job, the job has its own comments, and nobody has to paste a URL from one app into another.

Then there’s the seat buckets. monday.com sells seats in buckets of 3, 5, 10, 15 and so on, so an 11-person team pays for 15. We find that annoying. Klusko charges for the people you actually have, and our pricing page has the full numbers in pounds, euros and dollars.

The free plans aren’t close either. monday.com’s covers two seats; ours covers up to ten people and five projects, with the whole chat history kept.

And there’s less to set up. You get five views that work out of the box, including Workload, which shows each person’s load as a bar against the team average. You don’t build columns before you can add your first task.

Klusko vs monday.com: who should pick which

Pick monday.com if you have repeatable processes worth automating, if you plan projects on a timeline months ahead, if your tools need to talk to each other, or if your team needs an Android app today. It’s a serious product and you’ll grow into it rather than out of it.

Pick Klusko if your problem is simpler and more common: jobs get agreed in a chat thread and then vanish. Say you run an eight-person design studio. You want a board per client, a channel per client, the weekly jobs on repeat, and one bill. That’s what we built. If you’re also weighing up Asana, Klusko vs Asana covers the same ground.

Billing hasn’t launched, so trying it costs nothing. Nobody gets moved to a paid plan without choosing one.

Questions

Is Klusko cheaper than monday.com?

For a small team, usually yes. As of September 2026, monday.com Standard is $12 per seat per month billed yearly, sold in seat buckets. Klusko Team is £5 per person per month billed yearly, with no buckets, and chat is included. During early access every Klusko plan is free, and we’ll give at least 30 days’ notice before charging anything.

Can I move my monday.com boards into Klusko?

Not automatically, because we don’t have an importer yet. You’d set up your live projects by hand in Klusko and copy across the tasks that are still open. We’d leave finished work where it is. Most small teams have fewer live jobs than they think, so this is often an afternoon rather than a week.

Does Klusko have automations like monday.com?

No. Klusko has no automations or rules, and no integrations or API yet. Recurring tasks and task templates cover some of the repeat work: tick off a weekly task and the next one appears. If your process depends on automations firing between tools, monday.com is the better fit for now.
